Insulation Jacket Women 2
On the Alps of Disentis our organically kept sheep defy wind and weather. They get shorn in spring and autumn. Their wool is processed to become a fine and cosy-warm fleece. At our sewing factory in Widnau this fleece is sewn together with our durable and windproof fabric from Ziegelbrücke to form our comfortable jacket. It is available with and without hood. The athletic and elegant jacket is your ideal companion in the mountains and in everyday life. Thanks to the temperature-regulating properties of the wool the jacket is suitable for cooler as well as for really cold days.
Whether you are freeriding in great powder, anchoring in steep ice walls, climbing 4000 m peaks, going on ski-tour in April or on a trip to Alaska in autumn: The Insulation Jacket is your reliable and lightweight companion for cold days. The 120g/m2 heavy woollen lining allows an optimal insulation on the coldest days and a packs down to a small size which fits every backpack. In addition does our organic wool, compared to down feathers, not lose it's thermal capacity when wet. With those features, our ROTAUF Insulation Jacket 2 is suitable for almost every weather condition: whether you have been sweating heavily or need to await a train. Last but not least, the jacket is washable at 30°C - no matter where you are, at every hotel or hostel in this world. This makes the Insulation Jacket the right choice for your trips through this world’s nature marvels. If you are not sure whether the Insulation Jacket is the right choice for you, do not hesitate to contact us for additional information at firstname.lastname@example.org or 081 511 23 27
The production of the fabric, the organic wool and the finalisation of the jacket in Switzerland is, compared to the global average, extremely cost-intensive. For offering the jacket at a competitive price we apply minimal margins and renounce intermediary trade as well as expensive marketing. Thanks to our lean cost structure we are able to offer a eco-friendly and Swiss made jacket to a competitive price. Where your money is spent you see in the chart above.
The Insulation Jacket reaches 38.5 out of possible 50 points - this is for our targeted standard already a satisfying result. The following three criteria are paramount in the ecological assessment:
1. No Harmful Chemicals (25.2/30)
The outer fabric is free of any dangerous chemicals except for titanium oxide which is harmless for the customer, though hazardous during the production cycle. We are working on solving the problem. The wool fleece is treated without any chlorides and already meets the Detox-Standard. Unfortunately, the zippers are still treated with PFC but the manufacturers are making an effort to get rid of PFC which will allow us to offer a PFC-free alternative.
2. Closed Loop
Our goal is to only use renewable or recycled materials, which are biodegradable or recyclable at the end of the product's lifetime. The wool used already meets these criteria but some work needs to be done to get this standard also for the outer fabric.
3. CO2-neutral (10/10)
The ROTAUF Insulation Jacket is the only CO2-neutral produced isolation jacket on the market yet.
The robust, tightly woven and PFC-free impregnated outer fabric as well as the wind cover stripe behind the zipper are designed to block cold wind and snow flurry. Your body is kept warm with the thick wool fleece that still offers unrestricted freedom of movement. The two outer hand pockets as well as the inner chest pocket allow for sufficient storage space. The small packable jacket is available with and without hood.

We are especially proud of our Insulation Jacket 2. A million thanks to the sheep, shearers, farmers, chemists, dyers, wool processers, weavers, tailors, packer and shipping personal who made this production possible in the first place.
Pastured in Disentis
Warm Thanks to the Organic Sheep Wool from Disentis.
Disentis is located at the backmoste corner of the Rhine valley. This beautiful patch of earth is the domicile of the “Bündner Oberländer”-tribe. One of those is the organic farmer Markus from Segnas. The 150 sheep, which he can call his own, pasture the alpine meadows around Disentis since ages. In spring time before the sheep are released to the meadows, strong men with trimmers pay a visit to the farm. Subsequently, they are released to the alpine meadows. In autumn, after the sheep have spent the summer on the pastures and their hair has regrown the friendly guys with the trimmers set their hands once again on the animals. This way, every autumn and every spring wool is produced by the sack – which we can use perfectly for our jacket.
The Insulation Jackets 2 produced at the moment is lined with the wool from the spring shearing in 2017. We collected and controlled the wool together with the farmer on the 20th May this year.

Discover how your Underwear Shirt is produced.
For the ROTAUF Insulation Jacket as much Swiss know-how and materials are used as possible: the fabric is woven in Niederurnen, dyed by the company Cilander AG in Herisau and shipped together with the wool fleece to the stitching in Widnau to be finalised. There, at TOPA Konfektion AG, 45 individual parts are carefully stitched together to the finished jacket.
TOPA Konfektion AG calls for precision, accuracy and manual skills. Furthermore the team lead by Ayla and Emin Öztürk were strongly involved in the development of the new Insulation Jacket. Only with the professional inputs by Ayla, Emin and the rest of the TOPA AG team it was possible to optimize the design and the production process to the current state. This enables us to to offer this piece of SWISS craftsmanship to a fair price.
