Freetour Pants Women 2
Freedom of movement is an essential property of touring pants. With the Freetour Pants this is achieved by the optimized cut in combination with a elastic, 3-layer fabric. Thus they keep easily pace with every move in free riding, touring or mountaineering. Moreover, the pants provide optimal ventilation to the generous side zippers. The adjustable elastic waistband guarantees perfect fit even after a harsh climb. In short: these pants provide ideal clothing for any kind of winter sports.
The Tour Jacket defies wind and weather yet is easy recyclable at the end of its life. The recycled material serves as a base for new jackets.

Woven, Dyed and Laminted in Taoyuan City
High-performance Fabric from Taiwan
The material used for the Freetour Pants is the slightly elastic 3-layer fabric from Sympatex. The fabric is PFC-free and Bluesign and Ökotex certified. The production is rather complex and is done by specialists in Taiwan. As a first step the company Flying Tex weaves and dyes the durable outer material as well as the supple lining fabric. A few blocks away the company G-Fun execute the task of laminating the three components (outer material, breathable and waterproof Sympatex-membrane and lining fabric) together.
We appreciate the collaboration with both companies. Together with Sympatex, they pursue the highest environmental standards in the production. Therefore, the goal for the material is to meet the Greenpeace DETOX standard. In a first test run, only 11 out of the 430 examined harmful chemicals could be detected. A thorn in our side is the means of transport of the fabric to Switzerland. The batch is too small to be transported by ship. Therefore, we have no other choice than to ship it by plane. Until bigger batches will be ordered or else we find a local manufacturer, we compensate the emitted CO2. For this purpose, we cooperate with our partner MyClimate. The same fabric is used for the Tour Jacket.

The optimization, simplification and development of new features is a never ending process. Therefore, we work with athletes, alpine guides, friends and our Swiss production team to get an optimal result and reduce the production cost even further. We already invested more than 140 working hours over the last years into the refinement of the Freetour Pants.
On average Emin and his team invest 3.8 hours to bond, sew and tape the over 60 individual parts together to the final pants. Precision and accuracy are indispensable for this task. Especially the application of the tape for the waterproof seam sealing is highly complex. For one thing the configuration of the taping machine need to be controlled regularly. On the other hand, the handling is rather challenging because no mistakes are forgiven. If the tape is applied the wrong way, it can’t be removed. The tailor therefore has only one attempt to get it right. The challenge is that the taping step is the last one in the production process. Fortunately, Carolina, our taping expert in Widnau, is very accurate.
